Peter Bond is in his 16th season with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.  Mr. Bond came somewhat late to 'classical' music, beginning first with jr. drum and bugle corps, then big band jazz, and after college, even a traveling circus. In 1980 he began orchestral studies with members of the Atlanta and Chicago Symphonies while maintaining a career as a freelance musician in Atlanta. In 1987 Mr. Bond played his first orchestra audition, and was appointed Principal Trumpet of the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra in Albuquerque, where he remained until joining the 'Met' in 1992. In addition to the NMSO and the Met, he has appeared with the New York Philharmonic, Atlanta Symphony, Santa Fe Opera, Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, New York City Opera and the American Ballet Theatre (in the pit, thank you very much).
His teachers have included John Head, Vincent Cichowicz, Arnold Jacobs, Adolph Herseth, Dale Clevenger, Robert Nagle, and James Pandolfi. Almost in spite of himself, Mr. Bond continues to learn from the artists he is fortunate enough to work with at the Met.
